Darling Walk

The Darling Walk site will be transformed in a $560 million dollar redevelopment combining commercial office and leisure space.

Lend Lease Development has been chosen to develop the 1.5-hectare Darling Walk site following a competitive tenderdarling walk - harbour street view process which commenced in late 2005. The NSW Government will retain ownership of the site.

The 68,000 square metre Darling Walk project will include:

  • up to eight storeys, or 58,000 square metres, of commercial office space
  • 600 public and 200 private underground car spaces
  • retail and leisure facilities
  • new public open space.

darling walk artists impression - north west viewA key feature of the project will be a new pedestrian gateway linking Darling Harbour and the CBD, and improved pedestrian access across Harbour Street.

Public space will remain a central part of Darling Walk, with a youth and children's theatre, pedestrian boulevard, community green and a water play area planned as part of the development project.

The project will also deliver best practice environmental initiatives with Lend Lease committed to achieving a 6 Star Green Star version 2 design rating and a 5 Star NABERS energy rating.darling walk artists impression - western promenade

Demolition of the existing buildings has commenced with construction work planned to start in 2009 following design approval.

The project is expected to be completed in late 2011.
