Darling Quarter is a $500M renewal which opened in 2011. It includes a new national headquarters for the Commonwealth Bank, housed in a 6 Green Star building, and a world-class 4000 square meter children's playground.
Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority established a renewal vision for the site and sought expressions of interest for Australia's leading design and development firms to partner to achieve this vision. In partnership with Lend Lease, the Authority achieved benchmark additions to both Sydney's commercial capacity, and community play space.
Milestones achieved by the Authority
- 2007-08: Authority develops renewal vision, design guidelines and EOI for development partners
- 2009: Lend Lease engaged and design development commences
- 2009-11: Construction of Darling Quarter
- 2011: Darling Quarter opens.
Darling Quarter opened to public acclaim in 2011 and has since won 5 International and over 39 Australian Industry Awards. The children's playground and other public domain of Darling Quarter continue to be managed by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.
