Darling Walk
The Darling Walk site will be transformed in a $560 million dollar redevelopment combining commercial office and leisure space.
Lend Lease Development has been chosen to develop the 1.5-hectare Darling Walk site following a competitive tender
process which commenced in late 2005. The NSW Government will retain ownership of the site.
The 68,000 square metre Darling Walk project will include:
- up to eight storeys, or 58,000 square metres, of commercial office space
- 600 public and 200 private underground car spaces
- retail and leisure facilities
- new public open space.
A key feature of the project will be a new pedestrian gateway linking Darling Harbour and the CBD, and improved pedestrian access across Harbour Street.
Public space will remain a central part of Darling Walk, with a youth and children's theatre, pedestrian boulevard, community green and a water play area planned as part of the development project.
The project will also deliver best practice environmental initiatives with Lend Lease committed to achieving a 6 Star Green Star version 2 design rating and a 5 Star NABERS energy rating.
Demolition of the site's existing buildings has been completed. Excavation work started in early 2009.
The project is expected to be completed in 2011.
