Excursion outline:
- Once on board your students are given a warm welcome, the crew introduced and safety procedures are demonstrated
- The history of the Tribal Warrior Association, the monumental circumnavigation of Australia and the aims and achievements of the organisation are shared as the boat heads out of Circular Quay
- As we sail past Dawes Point/Tarra we hear about one of the first interactions between colonists and locals - the friendship between Patygarang and Lt. William Dawes
- From here the boat cruises towards Bennelong Point where the story of Bennelong is told. This amazing tale includes kidnapping, interaction with Captain Arthur Philip and the first Aboriginal Australian to visit England
- The vessel then ventures further out towards Middle Harbour as the stories, history and traditional uses of Mat-te-wan-ye (Fort Dennison) Be-lang-le-woo (Clark) and Bo-a-millie (Shark) Islands and the coastline are told
- The boat then stops on Clark Island where your group is given a traditional welcome by Aboriginal dancers. It involves interactivity with clap sticks, didgeridoo and group participation and inevitably leaves smiles all round!
- The return journey gives your group the opportunity to learn about traditional Aboriginal fishing methods and land use in the area
- Throughout the journey children are encouraged to interact with the crew who are happy to answer any questions participants may have whilst on the harbour.
A Sydney Learning Adventures guide will remain with your students throughout the excursion.
Maximum group size per cruise including adults and teachers is 50.
We are happy to try and match your booking with that of another group to reduce costs.
