The Rocks Discovery Museum

The Rocks Discovery Museum draws on Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority's unique historical collection and valuable staff insight to tell the story of The Rocks from pre-European contact through to the present. It shows the important role the area has played in shaping Sydney as we know it today.

Featuring four permanent exhibitions, in addition to a research area, The Rocks Discovery Museum embraces innovative design and high levels of interactivity. Entry is free.

Sydney Learning Adventures offers history and HSIE excursions incorporating The Rocks Discovery Museum.

Sydney Harbour YHA

Sydney Harbour YHA is located on the site of some of Sydney's earliest colonial archaeology in The Rocks.

The Big Dig Education Centre is operated by Sydney Harbour YHA and provides a first class educational facility for both the domestic and international education market. Sydney Learning Adventures uses the centre as a presentation space for the five programs mentioned above.

Sydney Observatory
Partner programs

  • Secondary - Giba - Nura

Sydney Observatory is located on Observatory Hill and is part of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (Powerhouse Museum). The Observatory is opened daily from 10am to 5pm for school excursions.

 

Sydney Learning Adventures and Sydney Observatory offer a discount of $1 per student when booking a combination of Giba -Nura with the lndigenous astronomy program for secondary schools. The discount will only apply when the Sydney Learning Adventures and Sydney Observatory Programs are booked for the same day.

IMAX Theatre

This partner program can be partnered with all SLA programs.

The world's largest Imax Theatre is located at Darling Harbour. Combine a screening of Sydney: Story of a City at IMAX with a guided tour of The Rocks with Sydney Learning Adventures.

A variety of tour programs are available at The Rocks including Little Diggers, Dirt Detectives, Pieces of the Past, Cesspits and old Rubbish, Shopfront to Western Front and Groundwork: Archaeology at The Big Dig.

The IMAX Theatre offers a discounted rate of $9.50 per student and Sydney Learning Adventures offers a discounted rate of $12 per student for programs in The Rocks when visiting both Imax and Sydney Learning Adventures on the same day.
