This seven storey building, known as Science House, occupies a prominent position on the south-western corner of the intersection of Gloucester and Essex Streets, The Rocks.
This is one of the few buildings built in Sydney in the commercial Italian Palazzo style. Designed by Peddle Thorp and Walker and built between 1930 and 1931, the building was awarded the Sir Sulman Medal for architectural design in 1932.
